Nothing within the known universe moves faster then light, but the universe itself expands faster then light travels within it.

Actually Infuriating@lemmy.world•Hiroshi Nagai distraught at seeing his artwork appropriated for anti-immigrant propaganda.
1·5 months agoThank you, hopefully discussing this will help some of the people I know see reality, rather then the indoctrination they consume right now.

World News@lemmy.world•For most of the world, the US is now a malign actorEnglish
26·6 months agoThe US is a malign actor for the US as well. Our government has become a danger to our own citizens.

World News@quokk.au•New US rules say countries with diversity policies are infringing human rights
27·6 months agoThe USA voted no on recognition that Food is a Human right. Only two nations voted no on that.
This country is not equipped to declare anything about human rights under the current administration. Honestly most of us expect this to end with either a revolution or a vote, and I don’t know who is more deluded at this point.
No no no, an NFT purchase only means you own the concept of that NFT.
I learned that from Futurama.
And yet there is a such a surplus of milk that the US gov has bought the extra in order to keep cheese prices sustainable for the high number of dairy farmers, then turned the milk into a national stockpile of cheese and then sell it cheaply to help find the entire racket, for the last few decades.

4·9 months agoThat’s a pretty fast Sainthood, if I remember correctly. Didn’t it used to take decades after death for that to happen?

World News@lemmy.world•Will Smith’s comeback has been a disaster – but does the punishment fit the crime?English
114·9 months agoI thought he slapped a man for making a joke? I can see why many folks would see little difference, I mean violence is violence, but if we’re talking degrees Id rather get doses of slap then punch. Still unacceptable in the situation, however, and I believe what ever issue Will had that night skills have been handled in private.
All that being said, the man has aged and people move on.

4·11 months agoWoah woah woah, this about chemtrails? I can’t believe I’m even surprised, really, but how can these idiots be focused on this rather then literally any of the actual issues that people are facing right now?
That’s a rhetorical question, I already known the answer is they want to handwave away real issues and only focus on the theater issues they themselves create to generate outrage.
But I mean, they want to outlaw the imaginary chemtrails? Didn’t have that on my apocalyptic bingo card.
Yup. It was designed as a troll to get sword geeks to comment about the inconsistency and then call them out on it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Those of you that back your vehicle into parking spots, why do you do it?
4·1 year agoDepends on the car and the parking lot, for me. When I drive my mom someplace we use her van, it’s easier for her to get in and out that way. This van has a shorter front end, and no backup camera to compensate, so I back in and pull out of spaces so I have better views as I’m moving.
When I drive my sedan with my wife and kids, I pull in to spaces and back out, because the sedan has a much longer front end and a great backup camera/radar alert system that makes backing out of spaces the safer option.

World News@lemmy.world•Mexican ship was headed the wrong way before crashing into Brooklyn Bridge, killing 2English
5·1 year agoIt lost steering power, not electrical power. Kinda like all the warning lights in your car turning on at once and the engine shutting down, even though the headlights are still on.

This raises a question. If Sung gave Data all the same functions as a living human, besides DNA, does that mean the Doctor designed, built, and installed a way for Data to frost Tasha with a glaze? 🤔
