We’re at an insane level of stupid. I had to buy a new smartphone in an emergency yesterday, and the onboarding runs as follows :
This results in installing two separate apps : Firefox and Ecosia
I think it’s the same deal as search engines : people have been made too unaware of what is on their devices. Every service needs its own app or people will just not dare to “tinker”.

I bought a second hand surface pro 7 recently and I’m quite in love with it! With a few GNOME plugins it’s a quite capable tablet AND a quite capable laptop on the go.

Achtuallyyy, the sound is usually “miaou”, but we do call them minou and I agree it’s super cute :3

Just a diva posing in front of the town hall 😄
After having a similar feeling as yours I went for NixOS.
My thoughts then : if it breaks I can rollback, and the unstable channel is quite comparable to what arch offers.
Now : I’ve moved to stable channel, because it’s updated enough and allows me to only deal with breaking changes twice a year. Moving to NixOS was time consuming (but fun) because it required to rewrite all my dotfiles and learn something new.

The 0.0001% actually : https://eattherichtextformat.github.io/1-pixel-wealth/
(Someone actually updated it with Musk’s fortune, but this version is more relevant here)

It’s at least misleading 😛
But I have to agree that for any non-math people this would convey the right idea, whereas “quadratic improvement” would probably not mean anything 🤷

Worst bugs usually hide in the most trivial causes 😭
TBH I’m not sure wider adoption would worsen things ? Gaming distros would probably ship bullshit anticheat modules by default while the others would not, or at most provide some documentation on how to opt in.
I think it’s quite similar to the situation with NVIDIA proprietary drivers? (I don’t own a graphics card so I’m not super aware on this topic)
That’s exactly the solution from the article 👌
In the curl git repository most files and most content are plain old ASCII so we can “easily” whitelist a small set of UTF-8 sequences and some specific files, the rest of the files are simply not allowed to use UTF-8 at all as they will then fail the CI job and turn up red.

That makes them organized and dangerous idiots to me.

I’ve noticed for a while that any video from LeMonde (an influent French newspaper) that talks about war in Ukraine is flooded by negative feedback from profiles that all have the same name pattern (firstnameXXXX).

I opened the topic while knowing there will be a ton of super enthusiastic and well-constructed answers. I’m not disappointed 🍿

What I find surprising is that it was decreasing before, what happened in 2018?
EDIT : oh yeah, Trump’s first term started in 2017, I just didn’t realise that time passes so fast

There is a French saying that perfectly fits current situation :
You don’t need enemies when you have this kind of friends.
Although I don’t know if it’s specifically French.
Plus, I don’t find slack super competitive in terms of features & usability.
I remember having a much better experience with mattermost.

Now that’s awesome news!
Or maybe Fedora : Gnome might feel more familiar for a Mac user.
