Ok, what is it then?
If you called for help but no one came, how would you feel? Despite sad songs sung by cowboys, believe that not all roses have thorns. Dare to be stupid but don’t be an American Idiot.
Ok, what is it then?

Me as an urbanist: Awesome, go your town! Me as a communist: That last part is a tad sketch…
This is sad, and they’re getting the absolute wrong message here.
No problem with people who need them having one (my family used to be one of those people,) but its just wasteful if you don’t use it.
But in order to convince people to give up their car, you need a viable alternative to driving.
Yeah, we definitely need both of those to become viable alternatives. But I’m even more excited about the possibility of a solid state battery E-Bike tbh.
I am ashamed to say that I didn’t even see that. That’s lithium (or possibly cobalt.)
TBH, I don’t know any definitions of terrorism that are self consistent (that being, including everything that is definitely terrorism while discluding everything that definitely isn’t.)
Yeah, the main advantage of cars is that they do a lot of things (kinda badly.) We need to do a lot of work to replace cars, and that work definitely doesn’t start with ignoring why cars are so prevalent. We need to empower people through other avenues a lot before most people will switch over.
I think that’s the point. Also, I think they are referring to Ukraine and interference with elections of other nations.
Yeah, reducing car usage would be much better for all handicapped people (those who can drive get better traffic.)
Honestly this. If you try to do too much you’ll just burn out.
My brother made this one
I see a lot of people saying build up not out, but you still need a place without houses to build denser housing (parking oceans should be place #1). I would keep way more of the green space than they do (and add in some community gardens?), but this might be a good option depending on the surrounding (sub)urban context. Its certainly not a good option for every (or probably most) golf course, but its going to be the best option sometimes.
Yeah, special commercial zoning, if we can’t eliminate restrictions on small businesses in neighborhoods entirely, which should be the end goal. But yeah we desperately need anything we can get.
AFAIK, it only applies to a relatively small section of Manhattan, in which traffic makes driving fairly difficult anyway, and most less well off people take public transit. I have heard people from new jersey who have to drive in complaining about it though. It does may be somewhat regressive.
What it is certainly not is whatever people on the right are trying to call it. I might be wrong about any of this though, I’m not a new yorker.
