I would hope the Instagram and YouTube alternatives are bigger than the Reddit alternative.
“A rising tide raises all ships.” I’m personally just happy to see further acceptance of the fediverse as a whole and believe that as it becomes more normalized as a concept Lemmy will see a slow spillover of more users
Exactly! I hadn’t used Twitter in almost 15 some odd years and because I started in Lemmy, I learned about mastodon.
While I’m not a daily user, I still have an account.
I’m going to be setting up a pixelfed account soon.
And loops once it’s stable.
Lemmy continues to be where I spend the majority of my time.
Use Masterson occasionally, and just created my pixelfed account and love posting my food pics over there.
Just so you know, you can login to pixelfed with your mastodon account. I assume they’ll add that feature to loops as well if they haven’t yet.
Go fediverse! 🤩
Don’t worry Reddit will fuck something else up soon, besides it’s the fediverse, we all win
Also what’s the federation between Lemmy and Pixelfed like? I know there’s some limited federation with peertube
I feel like reddit is dying “too slowly”. It’s getting shittier every day but it’s such a slow process that there’s no organized movement at the moment. There haven’t been any major fuckups in a while.
I tried fetching a Lemmy post (with an image in it) from Pixelfed yesterday and it didnt work, so I’m not sure if they are federating well
I hope so. I was on Reddit yesterday and even the super obscure subs often get more co rent than the biggest ones here.
The super obscure subs are the only thing worth going to reddit for. I only hang out there when there isn’t lemmy alternative, so the biggest subs are pointless to me
Weird how people don’t like getting banned for stupid shit
Puxelfed and peertube offer something that most people are looking for while lemmy does not. To whit instagram and youtube are bigger than reddit.
Lemmy has some unique issues beyond that, it’s developed by and for tankies and it shows. I wouldn’t blame anyone for looking at any even vaguely political community on .ml (effectively the flagship instance run by the devs) and just going straight back to Reddit.
That’s ridiculous. There’s no such thing as politics free social media
Let’s post that meme once Piefed gets mobile apps
