I keep hearing folks at work say “hopefully this will get people to buy electric vehicles” and yeah would be great, but the gas prices are the tip of the iceberg of hardship that’s already locked in

Neat! Microbes got to eventually be more efficient than industrially synthetically produced fertilizer from natural gas.
From what I understand this is urea. I’m guessing it’s a byproduct of some sort of oil refinery.
Urea is not really hard to get and shouldn’t end up having a large impact.
Not to say that it won’t have an additional cost, but comparatively speaking it’s not a big deal.
I guess at least it’s not winter.

If you had read the article, it’s nitrogen and phosphate in addition to the urea, the latter which has been implicated due to its production from LNG. The LNG prices have shot up due to the war worldwide, not just from Iran.
