    I cant remember a time in my life where Canada was considered a “global leader” in rail transportation. Especially passenger. Main problem is the sheer distance these trains have to run. Toronto to mo treal? Yeah sure. Calgary to edmonton, yeah. But ottawa to calgary or vancouver? Nope. Not unless we get a bullet train.

      Our regional rail is pretty shit conpared to nearly every other developed country. The last time we were a global leader in rail is when we completed the trans canada railway which built the country we know today.

    i am genuinely unsurprised that more money is being spent on car infrastructure. our government here is basically run by the big corporations. (no matter which party is in charge)

    same here in Australia, and were even worse as different states use different rail gauges, what a fucking mess
