Ahh, so they won’t perp walk him in a prison outfit, but they’ll do that to Luigi, even though there’s no actual evidence against Luigi, and this guy got ratted out by his own MAGAt family
Yeah, if there was conclusive proof of his political leanings, this is it.
Serious question: why does the government say this isn’t the default? I know the real reason is to give people special treatment, but what’s the rationale for why even someone like Charles Manson or El Chapo couldn’t wear street clothes to a trial? I could see the clothing itself being thoroughly inspected and even the dressing process being monitored, but I can’t see any possible problems with simply wearing different clothing, especially if they’re also wearing an ankle monitor and escorted with a guard. Hell, have them change in the court building if you must. Surely someone sophisticated enough to escape that would be able to manage an additional change of clothing, no?
I could be overlooking something though, which is why I’m so interested in what the given reason is.
It’s so they can bias people with the accused’s appearance.
