I’ve listened to 11-22-63 three or four times now, such a great book! I like most of Kings work though.
I use a Sony NWZ A15 which is an older player so can probably be had for not much money. Headphone jack and micro SD card.
If your car is newer with one of those integrated head units then you can get a 3.5mm Bluetooth sender for hardly any money.
And thus the perfect example of the subject of this thread was provided.
x’D
Yes. If you read the full comment tree you’d see I realised he was referring to the image rather than the title. My mistake.
I’m not trying to argue against the fact that they are both risky and highly destructive, it is definitely necessary. My issue is more with the way that it works in the UK. I think the system in somewhere like Australia is a lot fairer and isnt inherently designed to bleed people of the maximum amount of money like it is in the UK.
As I said in another reply I wasn’t mistaken and referring to the post title which was talking about insurance where as the image itself was referring to “car repayments”. That was my mistake.
Ah OK, I see what you mean. I thought you were referencing the title of the post as it mentions that his neighbour is paying x amount per month for insurance but you are right the image accompanying the post does say average car payment which would referring to paying for the actual car.
We were both concentrating on different parts of the post! You were right if referring to the image text, sorry.
This is for insurance, not the cost of buying the car. Yes some people do need cars because of their situation and the majority of people here can recognise that but to pay so much just for fucking insurance!
My bad, i wrote per month but i meant per year, that was my mistake. He is driving a 1.4 turbo new shape VW Scirocco (sp). My mothers car is a 1.3 Citroen C3 so hardly expensive, luxury or even quick cars. Even £400 is disgustingly over priced in my opinion though, the way this country does insurance is vile.
Australia’s system of buying registration which then covers your basic insurance (third party cover) which is like a tax and insurance cost combined for the car is much more logical, then if you want to you can buy additional fully comp cover for the car none of this insuring per driver per car bullshit.
In this land of legalised extortion in the form of insurance my friend who is in his mid 30s and been driving over a decade with no claims has to pay £700 per month.
My mum wanted to add my sister (again mid thirties and driving for nearly 20 years now with no claims) to her policy so she could borrow her car for a week and then maybe use the car once a month if that and they wanted an additional £1000 a month for the privaledge.
Fucking scum.
Lol wut.
I wasn’t comparing regular drug use to pirating software, I was comparing the disinformation campaigns that are used to present bare faced lies as facts to make people feel bad about the decisions they make in life to further serve their controlling narratives.
To be more specific when writing that comment I was mainly thinking about the racist, oppressive campaign that has been perpetuated around weed and its use when compared to alcohol. Weed was originally made illegal due to predominantly the United States campaign of hate against people of colour and specifically pushed in an attempt to oppress those communities. These campaigns have been based on disinformation and lies all whilst alcohol has been pushed as a thing you should partake in.
In actuality alcohol is more addictive, harmful to your body and society in general than weed ever has been or ever will be. That isn’t to say that weed is entirely harmless, I dont mean to suggest that either but really my comment wasn’t meant to begin a debate on the safety or lack of for any specific drugs, more to draw a parallel in terms of how people are lied to and manipulated in the ways that they think to then judge or look down on others because they are so wrapped up in believing the false narratives that are pushed.
Sticking with weed some of the world is now turning it around but yes I am frustrated to still live in a country that puts weed alongside stuff like opiods which are not even comparable in terms of addiction and damage that they do to peoples lives. So maybe you are getting a sense of frustration from that fact but I also couldn’t care less if anyone is judging me for doing any kinds of drugs. I have heavily researched any substances I have taken before I’ve taken it, I have looked into positives and negatives from as many independent sources as I could, tested me shit and everyone should have unbiased information to be able to do the same in their lives and choose what they want to put in their body.
You say bad things like drugs are bad things, I dont believe that so I couldn’t possibly agree that by taking drugs anyone is doing a “bad thing”. I believe that proper education with actual facts and a solid culture of harm reduction should be in place for people to make educated decisions with what they put in their bodies will always be the best possible route to take rather than prohibition.
The majority of negative experiences, deaths etc stem from people not knowing what they are doing, not knowing proper dosages and from having to buy from a black market where you could in reality be getting any fucking thing rather than what you may want which adds in so many variables and possibilities for it to go wrong. People will always get high and who the fuck is anyone to tell anyone else that they can’t, a regulated system where people don’t have to put themselves in danger buying from the streets would negate so many of the perceived negatives of drug taking.
I also don’t believe at its core piracy is a “bad thing” either so your whole second paragraph is kind of moot to me. Sounds to me you might just be close minded in terms of thinking these things are “bad” so I guess the propaganda has worked on you to a degree also.
Drugs are a great thing coupled with reliable and factual knowledge so judge me all you want for partaking in getting high, having fun and doing what I want in a safe and educated manner :)
I feel like I could probably use that one reference in every other negative thread about the world these days, great game though!
Ignorant idiots who can’t think for themselves will always follow the narrative that is forced down their throat.
See also “The war on drugs”. The majority of the people who will demonise you for choosing to use “illegal” substances will also be smashing their livers with alcohol which is more detrimental to both themselves and society than a lot of other drugs on a weekly or often daily basis.
Just because it is legal they feel like they are fine to not do their own independent research into what these things actually do to them and how fucking addictive they are.
Cool, thank you. I may try a Linux distro again soon and try to get Traktor DJ working but the last time I tried (admittedly quite a few years ago) the audio latency was far too high for DJing with so I had to return to windows.
I am aware of mixxx as a DJ software and I periodically try it out to see how it is advancing (my last try being a few months ago) but it is just not there yet for me. Hopefully one day!
I have no idea what LTSC is but I shall have a bit of a search around after work to see if it is something I can benefit from. Thank you :)
I wish I could switch to Linux but sadly I can’t (one of the main things I use a computer for won’t work on Linux) so I’ll be using windows 10 beyond eol and forever into the foreseeable future and I don’t see native instruments making a Linux version any time soon. I email them at least once a year asking about it in the hope they one day fucking do it!
I’m so glad my work works on the basis of as long as you do your 8 hours a day, come in when you like (to a point as unfortunately it isn’t a 24 hour business. So when I wake up at 4 I just go to work knowing that I’ll get there at half 4 meaning I finish at half 12 and have the whole afternoon to do things I actually want to do!
Not currently listening but thinking about going back for a third time around soon to Mike Bennett’s Underwood and Finch books.
They are a modern day vampire tale that now has a prequel book covering origins back in the 1800’s of the main character as well as a couple of sequels that continue the story on. When I first got into it there was only the first book and then my second listen through I followed it with a prequel then a sequel so this time I’d like to do it a bit more in order chronologically.
It is basically about a guy whose family have always been this vampires guardian / helpers but he was never aware, his brother dies who was the person that should be taking over the position upon the vampire awaking from a 50 year sleep and so he inherits the position and is dragged into this world he knew nothing about.
It is really well written and read by the author himself, I dont think it is very well known but if you like the whole nosferatu schtick I can highly recommend it!
