Also give eye protection to literally everyone else who might be standing anywhere in the reflective range of the cover, lens, mirrors, and any shiny metallic objects. These lasers can do damage before you even blink.

e: This includes non-human animals as well. If you’re okay with potentially blinding a bunch of innocent corvids I guess that’s on you.

  • There’s the idea that it makes abusing actual children more likely, but I wonder about that. Does rape porn make a person more likely to commit a rape? Do shooting games promote gun violence?

There’s also the idea that drawn images which don’t relate to real-world child abuse can offer therapeutic outlets for non-offending people suffering from pedophilia. Such material might make it less likely for children to be abused.

I think there’s value in us asking and discussing the question, but that experts with proper scientific data are needed for an answer.

If it turned out to be harmless, but also not beneficial in protecting children, should it still be allowed? I know I’d feel better if most sites refused to host that kind of thing, but I can’t really justify that stance in a logical way. I feel like the people who draw it and look at it must be bad people, but I think that’s probably also what some people must think of some of the shit I fap to.

I’m also fairly certain no image generator is capable of producing CP without having been trained on it, so AI images are ultimately the result of actual child abuse. The machines can’t just guess what things look like the way we can. Look into the “full wine glass” story for a demonstration of what I mean.

  • I don’t think it’s necessary for anyone, though I understand you probably mean they feel it is. They’ve done at least one study I read which showed that being fed content actually makes you stupid in the immediate short-term (long-term was outside the scope of the study). Consuming the same content by selecting which ones you want to see caused no problems. It’s the removal of agency that’s thought to be the problem, training your brain to be passive.

I’ve always preferred to interpret “You gotta get with my friends,” as meaning that the potential mate must first sexually satisfy the eight Leader Friends before moving on to the four Elite Friends and finally being allowed to take a swing at the Champion. She’s a very selective lady and her besties are out here to make sure she only receives the finest.

  • The “in mice” part is actually really exciting to me because male pet mice have to be kept solitary to prevent pregnancies and aggression with other males, but they still have social needs. It would be amazing if they could be kept with females full-time with no pregnancy risk.

Would also be nice to keep mixed-mischiefs of rats since their personalities and behaviors are somewhat sexually divergent. You could have a couple busy girls and a couple cuddly boys without having to take turns free roaming.

Because people learn to understand language much faster than being able to produce it, both in terms of formulation and pronunciation. For babies in particular, they struggle with the fine motor skills required to produce sounds reliably. Babies can learn to produce nonverbal communication faster than vocal language because it’s easier in terms of bodily control.

I don’t know. Earlier today I found a bug in my house and took it outside, away from the cats and presumably towards whatever it eats or wants to bang. Am I really any different from Toriel? Nothing gives me the right to tell it where to be; I’m only doing what I think is best for a creature less intelligent than myself.

The thing I like about Undertale vs something like Steven Universe is that the kind of pacifism being advocated isn’t one of passive forgiveness, but a stubborn unwillingness to accept what one disagrees with. And also the fact that the villains have very reasonable concerns regarding the need to defend themselves from humans rather than just actually being Nazis or abusive parents. It’s not a 1:1 analogy for real life and can’t be applied to every situation, but I think the idea of simply saying no and refusing to comply is a practical strategy in parts of life.
