  • This happens occasionally and have to be patient for a fix to come out. Sometimes takes a week or longer. During those times I just use freetube as a rss feed and use it to open videos on Firefox.

Pretty crazy amount of plugins I need to make default youtube palatable though like sponsorblock, dearrow, and blocktube. Freetube just simplifies it when it works.

  • Being able to actually leave behind big tech with Microsoft being one of the biggest ones with all the changes going on when it comes to things like privacy and getting your information sold is pretty huge for some people.

People have been tired of Microsoft since Windows 10 when even a clean install would have ads, and it went from a basic OS to one trying to get you to log into an account to funnel data from you.

At this point is kind of less about the games, but improvements to Linux and the attempt to make it more accessible for the average user who isn’t tech savvy that has people seeing Valve positively.

  • Tech channels get more scrutiny because their reputation lives and dies by how credible they are as opposed to being purely entertainment.

I trusted him less after he chose to stick with PIA after they got bought by Kape which is a company that had a history of distributing malware and adware

The issue is who he sold it to — the notorious creator of some pernicious data-huffing ad-ware, Crossrider. The UK-based company was cofounded by an ex-Israeli surveillance agent and a billionaire previously convicted of insider trading who was later named in the Panama Papers. It produced software which previously allowed third-party developers to hijack users’ browsers via malware injection, redirect traffic to advertisers and slurp up private data.

Why would I trust someone’s hardware and software opinions if that’s the sponsor they stuck with back then?

Never hears of Drew, but looks like he’s just a comedian? Not like his content is giving out product recommendations under the guise of being an expert who can be trusted.

LTT is an advertising channel to me. For their merch or sponsors. Modern day infomercials for people who are entertained by ads hosted by personalities.

  • It worked for me. Comments never came back even years later and checking old comment links with gdpr files.

I think reddit has a limit on the amount of comments that can be viewed through your profile. So you won’t be able to delete everything in one go if you have thousands of comments.

You’ll have to do one run rewriting and then after deleting the comments it can. Then wait and do it a few days or a week later when the profiles repopulates it with the older batch of comments that weren’t available before.

  • I stayed away from the general popular subreddits that tend to populate /r/all preferring to stick to either hobbyist and tech related subs. I haven’t noticed much change when it comes to places like emulators or roms for example mainly going there to check the wiki and when myrient went down people backing it up and making Minerva.

So I guess if it is the general trash subs that the twitter crowd congregates along with news, the bots and stuff might be more apparent with it being about karma, trying to go viral, and manipulate what users see. But, the more resource oriented ones like Linux or buildapc still seem to be less affected with people there just trying to help out.

  • Old.reddit UI fills the entire width of the screen, and default view is compact. You see more of the feed at a glance without having to scroll as often. When it comes to comments more of it is displayed when it comes to nested comments before clicking.

New reddit takes up a lot of space. And clutters up the side with stuff like related posts when you check the comment section.

Another big one is reddit enhancement suite which lets you tag and block things only works on old.reddit.

  • I haven’t watch any MCU stuff for the last several years. I’m the type to want to see the stuff that happened before, but lost the motivation to do so. As a result, just been skipping all the MCU stuff post Endgame.

For people who do watch it there’s people who don’t care about having watched everything, and just hop in because it has their favorite super heroe.

But, for your case were you keeping up with MCU franchise leading up to Spider-Man? I wonder what percentage of viewers kept up with MCU and what percentage are hopping in to watch it despite not having kept up with the franchise for years.
