Again. Hate is too strong a word. Just “involuntary and inexplicable dislike”.

tbf, I hated him in the 90s, before it was cool conservative.
I studiously avoid anything with the big T. He’s a good actor, but I’d prefer not to stare at him for 90 minutes.
Reddit for niche communities (my town and the TTRPG I’m playing).
Lemmy for less niche communities (arguing about things, politics in my country) and trying to grow those communities.
I have a weird dislike of Tom Hanks. It isn’t hate, but I find myself inexplicably hostile towards him. No idea why.
Canadian grocery prices have increased something like 20% since 2019. At this point I think we’re all buying less, eating less, and making sure we waste less.
Now I need to deal with USB-C to micro USB and USB-A for my old devices. Things will be better eventually, I guess, but it’s just shifted the annoyance around for now.
My phone is slightly easier to plug in though.
I work for an established US company, but I’m in a foreign country.
I expect my employer will receive tax cuts, so the company should have more cash. I expect this means my job will be more secure in the short term.
However, I believe Trump has talked about international tariffs and lowering the US dollar. So that could remove some certainty.
I’m learning so much from these comments…
Yeah, housing in Canada is stupid right now. Vancouver is one of the worst, but affordability is an issue.
In the other Vancouver:
I hope you have a lot of money. Housing is brutally expensive on Canada’s West Coast.
We’d be happy to have you though.
Climate change. On our current course, the best case scenario is famine, war, and a really shitty world for billions of people. The worst case scenario is self-perpetuating cycles that wipe out our civilization and maybe humanity.
It’d be cool if those didn’t happen.
public education that is not indoctrination
What jurisdiction are you in?
It’s like having kings or elves in a fantasy story. Readers know what to expect, so the writer doesn’t need to establish that they’re in charge, or that they’re noble, etc. They’re archetypes that most consumers are familiar with.
And writers stick to what they know. If they’ve been exposed to these mythologies, then they’ll use them. If they’re exposed to other mythologies, they’ll use those.
For a brief shining moment it seemed like the first Canadian housing subreddit might actually have an effect. And then it imploded. So we had to wait another few years for politicians to catch up and do almost nothing.
I’m glad you got out of there.
Layer your clothing.
An undershirt + a shirt + sweater + jacket + a shell is a really warm combination. On your legs, long johns + pajama pants + regular pants is great.
As the seasons change, you can omit items to get just the right temperature.
Hard agree. Any statements about working conditions a company makes needs third party verification. Last time I checked, the Fair Trade peeps were the most reputable verifiers.
That looks like the best fit. Thanks!
Life goes on past thirty five. I knew that was the case, but my plans and goals only went as far as then.
Kinda like when you graduate uni and you realize that there’s still more stuff to do.
