I wonder how many new vulnerabilities the fixes (likely LLM-generated) to these vulnerabilities will introduce.

This kind of empty sentences do not make EU a democracy. “The democracy is in the process” – no, the process shows that there’s no democracy. “It’s how a functioning democracy is supposed to work” – no it isn’t. A democracy establishes a referendum for such invasive measures.

We aren’t speaking about empty technical definitions here. Also China is a “republic of the people” then – it’s even in its name.

This kind of empty legalese, this Newspeak, does not help anyone. Call slavery ‘freedom’ and then tell the slaves “you’re free! you see? This is how functioning freedom is supposed to work. It’s in the process”.

🤝 It should be posted in other interested communities on Lemmy (and Mastodon). I imagine it has already; yet this is the first time I heard of it.

Great piece, thank you for sharing!

Lack of love?

As events unfolded, the participant who drew attention to the posts was banned first. The author of the offensive material was banned later after their identity was verified.

I’ve also noticed a tendency of censorship in KDE’s forums, for posts that are simply inconvenient, even if written in a civilized way.

Funny that instead of learning from Windows 11’s failure, some people just want to follow the same path…

Do the EU citizens want this? Where’s the democracy?

I’ve found myself listening many times to the whole soundtracks of One-Punch Man and Spy x Family.

Oh yeah!

Things will just get worse if we don’t do something concrete, like organizing protest marches and petitions, going on strike, and similar.

Quoting from an episode of Slow Horses: “heavy on hashtags, light on results”.

Slow Horses on nyaa?

We are generally governed at all levels by adults with teenager intellects.

With the important reminder that top-management people typically have the IQ of a beetle, or less.

The world needs more people that act on principles and take a stance.

At first I was afraid that they would allow for an irresponsible use. But no, they explicitly say “responsible”, so that danger is no more. I’m very much relieved.

Also they explicitly mention that humans will remain accountable. Not Nature, or Fate, or the gods; mark that. Good thinking there!

Problems solved.

This initiative is just a smokescreen; it actually pushes things down the slippery slope.

Citizens must not be forced to identify themselves to access lawful online content or services unless strictly necessary, proportionate and provided by law. The legislation should require anonymous or pseudonymous proof-of-age, data minimisation, selective disclosure

Define “necessary”. Define “by law”. The pushers for proof-of-age already say it’s anonymous – but it can’t be.
