It’s good to have you here, and hoping sanity prevails. It’s crazy the amount India has changed from being pedestrian friendly to being a sort of car nightmare.
The real shame is that the cities are probably going to restructure to look more like western countries before realising they probably had the right idea the first time around.
I watched a Youtube video about this, and yeah, induced demand affects everything, but when it affects Buses, you get more buses, and that’s more efficient. When it affects Trains, you get more trains, and that’s more efficient. The only time it gets less efficient is when it affects cars. The moral of the story was: It wasn’t the Induced Demand, it was the Cars that were the problem.
Sad thing is, if bikes were invented today, they’d be heavily regulated.
This mostly doesn’t happen in Australia. Zebra crossing means stop. A lot of pedestrians won’t even check, they just walk onto the road on a crossing.
Not a premium user but Youtube has poisoned its own waters with its algorithm. You can see the “top” content basically gaming that algorithm as well as it can. Literally every part of it from the title to the thumbnail to the content itself is hollow except for the skinner box.

He owns the business. His ownership was liquidated by the other owner without paperwork, and most of the other owners dispute that the ownership was ever diluted. The decision over whether he should have been “fired” are really upto him and the other business owners.
It’s also unclear why the other employees, who may or may not have been coerced, were not siding with Kurvitz. I agree it’s a mess, but there’s a big gap between “feelings” and “actually grossly illegal stuff”.
There are other videos on the internet about this, but basically PMG have done a terrible job here. One person is accused of serious corporate misconduct, and the others have allegations of being hard to work with, and PMG effectively treats them as equal, not even realising that the reason maybe some people were hard to work with was because of forced labour from the guy also doing the corporate misconduct.
They’ve just not done a great job overall here.
It’s honestly silly. I have a minor interest in Olympics coverage but it’s so often difficult to be able to watch a sport or see more context from a meme that I just stop caring. Like imagine if you saw that shooting meme and thought “yeah I’ll watch the whole thing” but you can’t. The wheeling and dealing makes the whole thing harder to get excited about.

Was watching a YT video against this idea. Basically the occupancy is quite low per dollar, and generally there’s not much expertise in building them. This means the city/state is tied to one company which can ream them price-wise. If you need the occupancy, get a train.
There’s no evidence that self driving can be better. It’s purely faith.
Drivers are not horrible, rather horrible drivers can get a license. Treating cars as a right makes that worse. Self driving makes that worse.
I conflated two points. Driver hits something due to sudden braking = they are liable.
Driver hit from behind at high speed = dangerous for occupants. Either way no one asked the driver.
I think it’s worth thinking about this in a technical sense, not just in a political or capitalist sense: Yes, car companies want self driving cars, but self driving cars are immensely dangerous, and there’s no evidence that self driving cars will make roads safer. As such, legislation should be pushing very hard to stop self driving cars.
Also, the same technology used for self driving is used for AEB. This actually makes self-driving more likely, in that the car companies have to pay for all that equipment anyway, they may as well try and shoehorn in self driving. On top of this, I have no confidence that the odds of an error in the system (eg: a dirty sensor, software getting confused) is not higher than the odds of a system correctly braking when it needs to.

This is unacceptable on its face. Yes, cars are dangerous, yes we need to make them safer, but we should use better policies like slower speeds, safer roads, and transitioning to smaller lighter weight cars, not this AI automation bullshit.
