Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is memes@lemmy.ml super one sided right now?
2·10 days agoNaw it’s not one sided, you just didn’t hear about the guy who got banned for accusing 4 people of being CIA agents.
Nice; yeah I don’t know if that’s a thing but if it is let me know I’m sure I could do with that too haha
You’re a hero man! Way to go. You’re a Linux person now ;) I don’t have any save advice because I’m where you were plus two weeks (and with simpler hardware, so you’re probably more advanced than me already)
Anyway that’s awesome! Way to go!
Having never even looked at Linux before I had it up and running on my old MacBook in less than an hour! Maybe another two of playing with settings (mostly for fun), and now it’s just my computer! I’m sure it’ll take extra time to get the things you want to work to go if they’re unusual, or maybe as you point out you may need to keep a windows partition for that.
Yeah getting hardware to work may require a bit of fiddling. There are some stellar resources, and some extremely helpful people. Most stuff really does “just work” but when it doesn’t you don’t have to learn everything, just how to fix that issue!
I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how painless it is. Obviously if you havae special hardware it may be hard to find drivers or whatever…hell if I know! but I had similar apprehension to you and it’s been a breeze!

Mint is very comfortable for a windows user! If you’re on even slightly older hardware I really doubt you’ll find Windows more comfortable.
I really wanted to but couldn’t get it to work; it seems awesome! For some reason I couldn’t get my old MacBook to recognize it as bootable. I should try again sometime.
I just did this with a 2010 MacBook Pro (only 8gb of ram) and I can’t tell you how happy I am about it.

It really is just good! I haven’t started using it full-time but I keep thinking I should try it at least for a bit.

2·22 days agoAndor was so goooooooooooooood.
I think season 2 was an improvement on season one, and the ending hit pretty hard. But I think Narkina 5 was the most powerful arc.
So many killer lines.
“One way out”
“I can’t swim”
So powerful. One way out for Kino Loy.
Also “how nice for you” … fuckin DEVESTATING.

1·22 days agoI feel like, despite obviously surviving, Andor somehow did lose something at the end (if you’ve seen rogue one the end of Andor hits hard)

381·22 days agoAndor is the best piece of Star Wars media and the best TV show I’ve ever seen. You don’t need to like Star Wars. I don’t know if seeing Star Wars would even increase your enjoyment. I think seeing Rogue One would probably be good but otherwise just jump in. No space wizards or laser swords or destiny or whatever. It’s so adult and grounded. I can’t believe Disney let them make this.
Yeah i heard that after posting this! I’ve also heard that archinstall is pretty user-friendly, really! Do you have any thoughts about that?
I remember you saying it might be easier to stick with Mint, which may very well be what i do!
Thanks for the reply
