Technology@lemmy.zip•Meta smart glasses pose a threat to women, campaigners sayEnglish
9·1 month agoYou’d be surprised. We (Driving Theory Test UK) do not allow them into our test lab. They either test without them (locked away) or do not test.
Across our network of test centres there are usually a couple of attempts at cheating each day.
Such as tech assisted, like Meta glasses, or fake licences, or even impersonation.
Some people think it’s beyond them to learn and insist on cheating.

Technology@lemmy.zip•I'm brave enough to say it: Linux is good now, and if you want to feel like you actually own your PC, make 2026 the year of Linux on (your) desktopEnglish
1·1 month agoI tried that and it was very good. Have been a bit of a hopper over the years and kept going back to Mint. It seemed a bit slow though and so I tried a few others and ran GeekBench 6 on them and for the last few months have been with Endeavour. It has two results as gusty result is last version.
Beeline Mini PC N100 CPU and 16GB RAM. Numbers are single core and multi core.
Apologies for formatting but it’s a table from Apple Notes 😉
Linux Mint Cinnamon 1077 1650 Cachy OS 1211 2756 Fedora Kinoite 1177 2643 Endeavour KDE 1278/1274 3292/3131 Endeavour Gnome 1135 2110 Manjaro KDE 1117 1848 Zorin 787 1134
Not the most scientific of tests but it might help someone. But for my purposes Endeavour is the one. Also the one I have least issues with.

10·2 months ago10? Wow.
Still think it’s one of the best things (if not the best) ever on TV. DVDs get frequent replays as well.
If you haven’t - the books are excellent as well and audiobooks outstanding. Jefferson Mays was born to narrate them ;-)
I’m meant Spotify has the larger choice.

3·7 months agoYes, I read that. ‘Likely conclusion’ does not equal a ban though.
I’m just being a bit pedantic about the headline - this whole thing is crappy (and unworkable) enough as it is, without jumping to conclusions.

They can try though. They can also try and collect water in a sieve.
