Looks like the red is to symbolise how they’ve got blood on their hands vis à vis Gaza

But the real issue is that Tech companies have implimented LLMs literally everywhere in their workflows and data and services and this is taking up a ridiculous amount of computational power. These enterprise level implementations and speculative integrations (ie. adding AI somewhere that a corpo things will help but literally no one asked for it), is whats driving the biggest rise.
A report from the Pew Charitable Trust found that 78 percent of ocean microplastics are from synthetic tire rubber. These toxic particles often end up ingested by marine animals, where they can cause neurological effects, behavioral changes, and abnormal growth.
Meanwhile, British firm Emissions Analytics spent three years studying tires. The group found that a single car’s four tires collectively release 1 trillion “ultrafine” particles for every single kilometer (0.6 miles) driven. These particles, under 100 nanometers in size, are so tiny that they can pass directly through the lungs and into the blood. They can even cross the body’s blood-brain barrier. The Imperial College London has also studied the issue, noting that “There is emerging evidence that tire wear particles and other particulate matter may contribute to a range of negative health impacts including heart, lung, developmental, reproductive, and cancer outcomes.”
Yeah. They are actually furthering the point by imagining there is no solution apart from EVs and ICE cars. Also, have they seen the name of the conmunity lol!

But in common usage it’s quite different. Like if your friend sends a pretty selfie you’ll be like “mashallah” or if your brother passes their exam, etc. Hence the comparison to “slay”.

I often heard it translated as “as god has wished” from Arabic languages (ma sha allah).

And he is starving in GazaEnglish3·12 days agoGAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — In a tent by the Mediterranean Sea, Hidaya Al-Motawaq cradles her crying baby boy and tries to offer what comfort she can.****“Khalas,” she murmurs repeatedly. “Khalas, khalas.” Enough, that’s enough.
Mohammad is a year and a half old and nearly all bone. His eyes protrude, as does his swollen stomach. His spine is so sharp and so defined, it seems it might poke through his thin skin.
Al-Motawaq, 30, says she no longer has breast milk to give him, because she herself is malnourished.
A widow, Al-Motawaq went from hospital to hospital, looking for food or milk to offer Mohammad and her other child, his five-year-old sister, but says she has been unable to find any. The one remaining pediatric ward treating malnutrition in Gaza closed down this month, citing a lack of food and medical supplies.

Okay that’s a little less dramatic than I envisioned given the use of the word “void”

China is hosting the World AI conference in Shanghai this weekend, an annual event aimed at showcasing Beijing’s leadership in the evolution of technology. At the opening event Saturday, the country’s premier said China would be setting up a new organisation for cooperation on AI governance - again warning the risks of the technology must be considered as much as its benefits

The latest swiss news I can find is that the government is currently doing a consultation.

Anycase, hope this doesn’t pass seems pretty awful. But even if it does I think we’re likely to see a referendum and all that, so could take a while.

And if you need more use RiseUpVPN. But note it is slow. And that its completely free and volunteer run. It’s the kind of thing that if you get an income you should probably donate to if you used a lot. It’s mainly used by activists in authoritarian countries.

Mass attacks of Shaheds, an Iranian-designed drone now manufactured in Russia, appear to be overwhelming Ukraine’s beleaguered air defences, with the drone hit rate reaching its highest levels since Moscow’s invasion.
Ukrainian air force data suggests about 15 per cent of the drones penetrated defences on average between April and June — rising from just 5 per cent in the previous three months.
The sheer volume of Russian attacks has also increased sharply this year, with a heavy assault on Sunday night into Monday morning including 426 Shahed style attack drones, Ukraine’s air force reported.
The success of the drones in recent months demonstrates how cheap mass can overwhelm even sophisticated and layered air defences, and has shown Moscow’s ability to rapidly adapt fighting techniques to stretch Kyiv’s resources.
