  • the Kolanaki guy, that Chinese guy who keeps changing his name but has an ROC flag profile picture, LadyButterfly (she posts a lot in a community I moderate, very pleasant person). I think I’ve had my scrapings with Pugjesus and afraidofzombies, good to have discussion. There’s also someone on here called “Satan’s maggoty cum fart”

Oh and YappyMonotheist is one of my favourites. He’s a very pleasant gentleman. There was a mormon guy here called Baldprophet, haven’t seen him in ages

  • Isn’t that Matrix?

ActivityPub wouldn’t work because it’s not a messaging protocol. It’s a publishing protocol. The closest thing you have is Lemmy- where you have a server (instance) with channels (communities).

It’ll be easier to achieve something like this using SMTP (email protocol) than with ActivityPub.

Matrix and XMPP are your best bets (although XMPP doesn’t necessarily natively have video call, usually you’ll have an accompanying TURN server)

What you can do with email, xmpp and the fediverse is have the same username. It is possible for someone to make a platform which gives you one name and it accepts email, xmpp and fedi. Unfortunately, Matrix, for some strange reason uses the format of @name:server instead of the standard name@server (activitypub might use @name@server but that’s close enough and a lot of lemmy frontends don’t even care for the initial @. In reality that initial @ is probably just being used to ping them, now realising.)

  • The European Union has an ideological focus on the death penalty, but I would like to ask them if they have a better solution.

Mr Branson is entitled to his opinions. These opinions may be widely held in the UK, but we don’t accept that Mr Branson or others in the West are entitled to impose their values on other societies. Nor do we believe that a country that prosecuted two wars in China in the 19th century to force the Chinese to accept opium imports has any moral right to lecture Asians on drugs.

Nothing we have seen in the UK or in the West persuades us that adopting a permissive attitude towards drugs and a tolerant position on drug trafficking will increase human happiness. Where drug addiction is concerned, things have steadily worsened in the UK, while things have steadily improved in Singapore.

Man they are absolutely cooking here. Both in calling out the white supremacist attitudes of the west and in being rational.

  • That’s because there is an objective morality and we know the differences between right and wrong naturally. But society can twist them, and it is now and has done many times before.

But let’s also not pretend that God’s rules are all great, either. If the guy who enacted a worldwide genocide and commands fathers to kill their sons is your moral compass

You are seriously taking these concepts out of context to the point of dishonesty. For the “commands fathers to kill their sons” I assume you mean the narrative about Abraham and Isaac. The whole point of that is in a world where people were being sacrificed to a god, the true God didn’t require human sacrifices from men. In fact, the whole story in of itself is a prophecy

    Genesis 22:8, 11-14

Abraham said, “God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they went both of them together.

But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.” And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son.

Interesting that it was said that God will provide a lamb, but instead there was provided a ram?

So Abraham called the name of that place, “The Lord will provide” as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”

    It shall be provided.

    John 1:28-29

These things took place in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing. The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

As for the flood- That is just God purging evil from the world. He is well within His rights to do that.
