Fijxu@programming.devto Linux@lemmy.ml•Windows 10 refugees flock to Linux in what devs call their "biggest launch ever"
121·19 days agoBro I’m not going to wait 15 seconds to read that article fucking cloudflare, takes years to complete on a smartphone.

Fijxu@programming.devto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Beware, another "wonderful" conservative instance to "free us" has appeared English
2·2 months agoI was going to say this. I’m not even from the United States btw. That’s just how the fediverse and federation works.
Soatok also has a very good post about XMPP
https://soatok.blog/2024/08/14/security-issues-in-matrixs-olm-library/
Matrix is great, but not the best, recently, less than a week ago, the Matrix.org server went down due to a drive failure, so they had to recover all the server data using a backup, so you are better off using a homeserver that is not matrix.org.
Also, all clients of matrix kind of suck. Element desktop is extremely laggy and sluggish to use. Element for Android is deprecated, ElementX, their new android client is not completed and lacks basic features. There is other clients but all of them have their downsides.
Use bandwhich to see which programs are using traffic ;)

12·3 months agoSamsung used to be good. I used to always buy samsung but since I can’t affort a “high end” device, I go with the medium end ones, and samsung medium end ones are terrible for the price. So instead of getting a medium end samsung, you can get something better and cheaper on another brand
Fijxu@programming.devto Linux@lemmy.ml•I have used Windows all my life, and I have some questions.
2·7 months agoJust as a note, NVIDIA on Linux is not bad, BUT IS REALLY ANNOYING because you will get some random bugs that are only exclusive to NVIDIA cards. Like this one: https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/non-existent-shared-vram-on-nvidia-linux-drivers/260304
If you have a low VRAM NVIDIA GPU and you want to play a modern game, you will have a bad time. (However, AMD and Intel should work just fine lolol)
Ubuntu lol
Fijxu@programming.devto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Piracy in Mexico.English
18·7 months agoAFAIK South America (at least on Chile) doesn’t even care about how people use the internet, so you can pirate anything you want. I suppose is almost the same for Mexico, they have more important things to care about.

5·11 months agoI think so? It’s pretty solid and it works well overall. Anything is better than Google or Bing for your online privacy. If you want more privacy, you can try using SearxNG or 4get
I didn’t know NetBird existed. I may switch to it because it seems to be literally the same as NetMaker
NetMaker is like Tailscale. It uses Kernel wireguard unlike Tailslace which uses user space wireguard.
The only downside is that you need to pay for it or you can host your own server (but is kinda tricky to do)
