That’s fairly shocking alright. And I come from a formerly catholic country (Ireland) which continues to treat women terribly.

The most misogynistic and homophobic men I know (family, unfortunately) would be fine with this, but every step in representation counts as progress.
Comments (quality ones) are the life of a community.
This. Normal people can barely remember a domain name unless it’s also the name of the brand. So this platform is filtering for tech enthusiasts which leaves us with the same two-dimensional profile as every other platform.
Not memes but I keep the address bar in the screen shot.

Both Russian assets, so it’s a fair comparison. He’s considered possibly the next PM by a few commentators I trust. If he isn’t, the current PM is still a genocide enabler. And the media landscape is worsening in the UK.
By all means have more dismantlists in the EU if you like, but it’s an obvious net negative in my view.
I would like new (or returning) members to provide genuine EU criticism that challwnges the hypocrisy and collusion regarding genocide, and calling out of the roll back of environmental standards. The general neoliberal mindset there makes me very uneasy. Russian assets aren’t going to help with any of that and neither will a neoliberal.

The issue isn’t anti-EU politicians once it’s in good faith. Von Der Leyen & Co. are rotten IMO, and are complicit in genocide for not using every lever at their disposal to sanction Israel like they rightly did Russia.
It’s the bad faith, Kremlin-linked obstructionists howling at the moon about invented issues that are impossible to deal with and spread the most disinformation. Hungary should be jettisoned too, IMO, if they can’t change leadership soon.

*as an analogy, I like to think of adult women *

Farage and his ilk need to become a fringe curiosity before the UK should be reconsidered for EU membership IMO. Big up Zack Polanski, though. I’d vote for him in my own county.

I just came here to post the same thing haha. It’s very cool! Reminds me of when MTV started. I’ve only watched about an hour of this station but it appears that:
Personally I think this is among the coolest things to happen online in some time.

I don’t have a comparison, but here’s a very interesting bit of research done on short form video https://bsky.app/profile/victorsvector.com/post/3mbaehtifjc2h

Yes. Piefed is just as bad. I can see the confusion on their faces as soon as I say it and I don’t blame them.

I don’t recommend it to non-techie friends and family for this reason.

For example, Boycat: https://boycat.io/
Scan product barcodes and find out if you are inadvertently supporting atrocities.

I sometimes wish all forms of commercial entertainment would disappear for a year or two so people take their heads out of the sand, see our contribution to the state of the world and start being the change we need.

People, the profound depravity and savagery we see carried out against Palestinians would not be possible without global support. Our politicians won’t do enough but we can’t hide behind them either. Download the Boycat app and start boycotting.

Hold on: isn’t it a smear to say someone has a bad reputation and not supply a reason? Because you’re basically giving me your interpretation and no substance.
He is hard working. It’s difficult to build and communicate and do open source but all of those things are happening with regards to Loops. Nobody is perfect and a label like “bad reputation” is very subjective.

Somewhere between being a hater and a fanboy, there’s basic respect. And it’s a one-person project for now, not a big company, so the words we choose should reflect that.

You’ve expressed my feelings about it exactly. It’s very easy to criticise things that aren’t custom made to our individual preferences. But every time we do that we short circuit our capacity for reflection and empathy. I wonder if developers are so often a target of harshness and abuse because software users are used to instant gratification.
It’s a monumental job he’s doing and open sourcing it is basically a gift to the entire internet. The new features keep coming and with video being so expensive to host, it’s a very different undertaking to non-video social media.
I thought so, and there are some measurable improvements (married women are allowed to work now, for example). But women are unequal here in many ways still such as wage disparity and the typical long list of issues that aren’t taken seriously because they don’t affect men.
The billionaire-backed online brainwashing is also bringing out the worst in some people, and they vote. So I can see progress stalling if we don’t get a handle on that. But thankfully we don’t have FPTP so their political presence is currently small.
