Yeah I unfollow ppl if they like stuff I dont like since it taints the algorithim, for the most part I get a suprisingly decent feed on my official real person account, and a really good one for my 3d visuals account.
I like seeing other ppls likes, my whole twitter feed used to be some of my friends likes that ithe algorithim realized I enjoyed (itd show who liked it when showing you the post) my feed went to shit after they turned that off.
Seems to be because of a problem in yarn, linkwarden and joplin have issues too (someone replied on my yunohost forum post with a github link witth ppl discussing it)

most of social media is anonymous, ill remember you theoctonaut from mander, that makes this social media, I remember some users and see them pop up all the time, theres a social aspect, its not just sharing links
helps a little if they have close to standard names
I need to redload reddit or some frontend so I can steal interesting links from there to post, one day ill be bored and feel like growing some communities
I do think if any of those pop culture communities get abnend because of a controversy they might come here, isnt there a defederated drama community?
I don’t feel out of it, but I also use tiktok, ig reels (suprisingly amazing algorithim, least controversial, my 3d edm visual profile (amateur af) only sees 3d and edm reels for the most part, doesn’t really favor low follower counts but its great for popular stuff.
I miss old twitter, wondering if any mastodon or pleroma instance is like that. Sharkey seems more tumblr ppls vibe. It was always current and fun to talk in.
Reddits out of it forsure, ppl can identify a redditor and its never a compliment lol. I always hated when ppl called me on, but they were spot on. Lemmy’s not too bad, ppl just dont seem to care about pop culture here, might be due to lack of communities or posters, gotta be the change you want to see in growing communities like this.
I need to start posting more stuff on the edm ones, I feel out of the loop there and want them to be as active as reddit was.
Anyone had luck installing it recentlly? It worked one day and then some update got pushed (not to misskey/sharkey but something they depend on) and now I can’t install it. I’m pretty sure its not exclusive to sharkey or my vps, saw people talking about it for unrelated stuff.

Reddit is fake liberal idk what it is, mfs say its so liberal but id be forced to see conservative posts with no way to block them
Less repetitive, less “inside” jokes that get spammed, people reply. I got used to arguing so much that I get defensive here, everyone wants to argue over everything on reddit, while here ppl are more likely to show interest.

Right now lemmy has better app support, eventually Id love to see just one client/app that supports threads, microblogging, etc. with feeds, you kinda have to build your feed brick by brick with friendica, streams, hubzilla, etc. but they connect them all, letting you browse and post to communities you’re subbed to, reply and see peoples microblogging stuff,no apps tho
Mbin has microblogg and thread support, so you can post and respond to both formats, piefed and mbin both have the goal of letting instance owners or ppl make topics that contain multiple communities to make it easier to sub to similar topics, like subbing to linux topic for linux, linuxmemes, etc. instead of subbing one by one and finding communities whos name may not fit what they are
