She was a pretty good Starbuck, but nothing comes close to Dirk Benedict to me. Hearing the name Starbuck instantly pops in an image of Dirk in his uniform, jacket unbuttoned, smoking a stogie and gambling.

      Probably because I’m old.

Me too. Saw the cast at a comic con and they looked so dejected and tired I just couldn’t walk up and say hi. Imagine a middle-aged dude coming up and saying, “I loved you guys when I was a little kid!” Yikes.

Self-esteem turmoil is brutal, especially when it comes to a pursuit you’re passionate about.

She played the character really well FWIW, so hopefully her next project brings back her confidence.

Hopefully Bitch Pudding can come back from this. BLAM!

“I’ve always played two steps removed from myself, in a sense. It always felt grounded in some part of my belly of who I was. Bo-Katan is nowhere near who I am as a human being. Her life, what she wants, I didn’t understand her. As much as I understood her, I never felt her in my stomach. I never identified with her. I didn’t know how to find her.”

“Well, wake me up when you figure it out, shit stick!”

Understanding the character she’s playing is her job. Freaking out a bit when she can’t do that sounds reasonable.

I do think Starbuck made a name for herself playing Starbuck though.

She was in Battlestar Galactica btw, not Firefly. BSG likewise had 77 episodes, not counting the spinoffs.

… and somewhat successfully at that:

She was nominated for four Saturn Awards for Battlestar Galactica and won Best Supporting Actress on Television in 2005.

Don’t you want to be good at your job? It’s a big part of your job security.

Like even when I’m shilling in fintech, which I think is bullshit, I’m still going to sweat if I feel like I’m not getting something.

Have you never experienced that? What about in school?
