Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Videogames you always wanted to play but they did disappointed you?
3·7 days agoIt does, but that’s done using a combat system I can’t get into, and if you lose, you’re sent all the way back to the very start, which is like 3 genre shifts away from the furthest point reached.

1·21 days agoThey’re not going in the same direction, but if you want some anime of Kon’s calibre, look into the work of Urasawa. Personally, I found Monster and Pluto to both be 10/10 shows.

15·23 days agoIt’s not that obscure, but Perfect Blue (1997) has not left my mind since I first watched it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a standalone movie that deserves a good sequel?
2·2 months agoI should really get around to those books. Though, I think the author has said that their main (partially spite-fuelled) mecha inspiration is Darling in the FranXX?
You should absolutely watch NGE; it’s a show filled with so many details that it’ll never quite leave your brain. The ending is controversial for sure; I loved it, but you do need to be paying attention to the large-scale plot going on in the background in order to understand it.
The show was probably improved by the fact we live in the timeline where the original plan for the ending, in which werewolves show up, was scrapped (no, really, that was the plan at one point, look it up)
Eva is a normal mecha anime. And then Episode 18 hits.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What mediocre game, show, or movie has an incredible soundtrack?
3·3 months agosomeone said E33 so I’m pretty sure I won’t get crucified for this: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
The eyes also show someone’s time of death, which implies foresight, meaning it’s likely the name they end up dying with, which could change if the time was extended, but that very famously kills any shinigami who makes that happen.
I like this artist’s style. Reminds me a lot of Kohta Hirano.

A… comedy?
