I built a LFS system in the 1990s. It was cool and informative but I decided to switch to Gentoo to ease my compilation pain. Eventually I switched to Debian after waiting a day for KDE and Star Office to build in on day. 😅

There was an article a few years ago about Zwarte Piet. Someone commented that Zwarte Piet was fine, not racist at all. A person replied that they were black and lived in Holland and that they felt like Zwarte Piet was a bit racist. The original commenter told them to go back to Africa.

So anyway, that’s kind of where we’re at.

China is by no means perfect, but framing a country doing exactly as what every country should be doing as somehow sinister or having nefarious motives smacks of deep anti-Chinese indoctrination.

If you live in a country with 19th century banking where people still pay each other by IOU on little pieces of paper, then sure. In modern countries a lot of places only take electronic payments.

In the USA there is an assumption that people speed a little in their cars all the time. So speed limits are set lower than they should be, because people will go over them. People know this, and assume that the speed limits are deliberately set too low.

This leads to nonsensical situations like where you have a road with a 35 miles per hour speed limit, and then a yellow warning sign in front of a bend in the road warning that 35 miles per hour is the maximum safe speed. Like, why is the sign necessary if that’s already the speed limit?

Oh yes that was it!

It looks like some issues were introduced by rewriting the shell-based tests in Python. Or rather by AI rewriting the shell-based tests in Python…
