To me, the dark mode UI just appears weird and considerably less appealing than light mode. I don’t know if they’ve added a uniform filter for all UI elements or made a poor choice in selecting the dark mode colours, but I simply don’t feel like using it, even though I want to.
Appreciate your post very much. I used to use Brave as my primary browser a few years back but Lemmy basically guilt-tripped me into ditching it for Firefox even though it was working perfectly fine for me. Although now I have naturally grown accustomed to Firefox forks for my daily use, it’s nice to see that I’ll have another viable alternative if I ever need a Chromium browser.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which is more practical in the long run: wind/solar energy, or nuclear energy?
0·18 days agoBeing legally qualified to operate a nuclear reactor is mind-boggling! Unfortunately it’s not as magnificent as being a certified forklift operator (not me).
I thought it was Octopi?
Anyone got this working properly in X11? I’m frequently observing weird rendering artifacts like mixed dark and light mode elements, invisible text, array of rectangular outlines when drawing connections diagonally etc.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think of Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy?
3·1 month agoYeah I’m not really that proud of that phase. It broke after witnessing consecutively poorer quality shows and movies released after Endgame, after which I tried exploring movies from other franchises.

1·1 month agoWhat did you dislike about Bale’s performance in particular? I’m interested to know since I am biased in favour of him as an actor and could’ve overlooked his flaws in the process.

3·1 month agoFair enough. I didn’t happen to like the Dune movies, so I didn’t even bother finishing the first one.
Agree with the sound design problem. I was lucky I was able to view the trilogy at home, else I would probably have my ears blown off like a cartoon character by the end.

3·1 month agoI am somewhat able to get the idea of the meme, but I still fail to understand what got it popular to this extent.
On a separate note, the third comment in the first screenshot genuinely gave me a good chuckle.

3·1 month agoIs this how I get to know Heath Ledger died? His acting was great nonetheless and I would’ve loved to watch him in future movies. I feel bad now ;(

2·1 month agoSame opinion on the voice thing. He probably used to take a dozen cough pills every morning after doing that fake cringey voice at night as Batman.
I have yet to watch The Batman, but I’ll be looking forward to it since I’ve been a fan of Robert Pattinson’s performance in the last few Nolan’s movies.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think of Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy?
1·1 month agoMorgan Freeman was in the cast as well???!!! Somehow I assumed he was only destined to narrate throughout his entire career that I failed to acknowledge his existence as an actor even when he was in front of the screen countless times.
I was equally fascinated by the performance of each actor in the trilogy and hold no particular actor above the other, though I prefer Michael Caine in particular simply due to his role as a British, good-willed and supportive butler according to the plot.
I agree that the 2nd movie was overrated. I assumed by the plethora of Joker memes that the movie would be an all-time cinematic masterpiece. The Joker’s character was certainly entertaining and unique, but it was not magnificent enough to rate it above all other antagonists in the movie industry.
I have mixed feelings about the 3rd movie. Some scenes had poor executions or just felt frustrating. However the first and last quarters if the movie kind of redeemed the movie for its imperfections and ultimately I was completely satisfied with its ending.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think of Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy?
31·1 month agoInteresting. I did find the soundtracks to be cinematic while watching the movies, but there was nothing iconic about it, not even a simple hum I could remember afterwards. I could always recall parts of the music for other Nolan’s films I’ve watched, but the entire trilogy seems to be an exception for some reason.
