    Yes.

I know how my tools work to some degree. I know when they get dull, become inefficient, and need sharpening, or grease, or cleaning.

Because of that i can sometimes appraise alternative and new versions’ advantages and disadvantages, and choose (with at least a semi-informed judgement) when an upgrade might be worth more than the transition/investment/retraining cost. I’ve got it wrong some times, and learned from those mistakes. I get better at managing risks with them.

Some jobs i just know I’d better sharpen them more oftten, i can plan for that. I know how to maintain and even improve them. I can sometimes adapt them, or complementary systems, to make them better at specialised purposes.

I mostly own them, especially the ones that i cherish; I have an incentive to maintain, upgrade and make complementary investments.

I’m sure someone can do all that stuff with AI; but not me, so it’s not a tool to me. Some of my tool requirements seem to be very far out of reach.

  • It’s the dumbfuck bankers, investors, pension funds and markets that are really scary.

Of course they learned so many hard lessons when they lost so much got bailed out in 2008, and never faced any regulation.

Also fucked off with any governments pumping the bubble - I know pro-cyclical fiscal policy is now all the rage, but seriously these fuckers . . .

  • This seems to be basted of statistical averages, so I’m so sure it can necessarily be translated to 4 in 5 people in a real empirical sense. It’s not entirely clear though - I didn’t try to find any sources.

I’d expect a skewed distribution with more deaths concentrated in certain areas and impacting some people more.

This might seem an anal point, but it might help explain voting behaviour and crowd responses and such.

If you’re speaking to a room of 100 random 40-year olds it might be way less than 80 who agree that they know someone who died in a crash. It might be just 20 who knew 4 people die. That sort of skew in people’s experiences might be helpful for advocates to understand as the dynamic of a minority with more trauma vs a majority none could be different - especially if the majority are callous self interested fuckfaces.

  • ‘Tied’ by identity, owner owns vehicle (with license) , owner pays vehicle tax and or road tax and income tax.

You could , say, tax vehicles by weight or size. Each extra metre, each extra kilogram, tax goes up, a lot.

Then , if the owner makes commercial income from activity deemed to depend on haulage, and is due to pay income/corporation tax, then they could be allowed to a claim a vehicle tax deduction. If they don’t make (or won’t declare to tax authority) the commercial income, then there’s nothing to deduct from, so they pay the whole vehicle tax - or lose their vehicle/license.

If the owner wants to commit tax fraud by misdeclaring income, then the tax enforcement regime is already in place.

not a perfect system i’m sure , but its a possible mechanism using tax and licensing authorities that maybe already exist in many countries.
