Yeah, I’m really glad I found out about Jellyfin. I switched to Jellyfin because Plex doesn’t let you disable Passout Protection (automatically stopping playback after something like 3hrs) without Plex Pass. I was just about to fork over $95 for a lifetime license when I looked into Jellyfin and discovered continuous playback was the default. I switched that very day and never looked back.
Well, I’m a big fan of the sciences so I spend a lot of time reading mander.xyz communities, subbed, I’ll contribute whenever I come across something relevant.
Ah, I wasn’t aware of that community, thank you!
For the avid readers out there, bookwyrm is a fantastic alternative to goodreads.
An article titled “Decentralized Social Media Is the Only Alternative to the Tech Oligarchy” hit the front page of r/technology and the top comment mentioned lemmy as a reddit alternative. Although the comment was removed when the OP later edited it to include a direct link to join-lemmy.org. Which probably indicates those mods have automod configured to automatically remove links to that site. But the good news is, it still got a lot of attention. It’ll be interesting to see if any instance admins will be able to verify an uptick in account registrations over the next few days.
Closed source and it’s got ads. lmao pass. Go back to !boostforlemmy@lemmy.world
Yep! But if you’d like to disable it just go to Settings > User Tags > and toggle off “Track Votes”
Oooh, you’re right! I didn’t realize that worked as well. Thanks!
To tag someone, click their username to go to their user page. Then click the three dots in the top right corner and then select “edit tag.”
Meh, I bought Ultra lifetime after a few months of using Apollo and never even bothered using push notifications. Which is funny, because it was the main thing I missed when I originally switched from Android and RiF in 2020. Voyager is FOSS so it’s understandable that there won’t be push notifications, as that require servers which cost money, and it also introduces potential security issues. User tags on the other hand, were something Apollo sorely needed, and the dev never got around to it.
Presets would be cool. I don’t really use reddit anymore but RES had presets for usertags and it made tagging MAGA chuds very easy.
Moscow stands accused of launching a massive campaign of vote buying, funneling cash through its proxies into the accounts of ordinary voters, as well as using social media to sow fears about the prospect of EU membership leading to a direct conflict with Russia.
Watching Putin fail never gets old.
State-owned news outlet Gazeta(dot)ru reported that the Ukrainian-linked hacker group “sudo rm -RF” was behind the attack.
HACK THE PLANET RUSSIANS
Edit: Removed direct link.
You misread my comment. I said “just” as in “simply” not “recently.” Words can have multiple meanings and uses. My point was that this is not an abrupt decision and has been in the works for quite a while because of the war, but it was not based on a decision “specifically tied to a recent development” in said war because it had been announced months ago in June when Belarus got kicked out. They just/simply have been waiting for the contracts of both groups of scientists to expire before sending them home for quite some time.
I recall this being announced earlier in the year, and it’s the result of current (5yr) contracts expiring and not specifically tied to a recent development in the war or anything like that. CERN just decided not to renew contracts with Russian scientists who are solely affiliated with Russian institutes but had to wait for them to run out, and as the article points out, this already happened to scientists from Belarus back in June.
Yeah, I used to run into you in r/skeptic a lot, fighting the good fight lol. And we both know the mods of that sub let it be overrun with all types of deniers and insane conspiracy theorists… But at least those trolls put a little more effort into it than just scoffing at experts.
Apparently those brainiacs with their fancy book learnin’ and expertise are useless. We must all sift through hundreds of thousands of pages of raw data before reaching any conclusions. The entire concept of career specialization is wrong! Throw it out!
“I’m not a climate change denier but why does anyone care what experts think?!” 🙄
Seconded, but they just go by Tuta now.
