Wheels in the form circular rocks are also naturally occurring. Plenty of human “inventions” are actually just finding useful applications for existing stuff. Like penicillin from mold. And organic iPhones from the Apple tree.

I had one of those until mid 2000’s. I remember fidgeting with the curly umbilical cable thing while on the phone
Damn; looks like grandma is going to outlive us all

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your "dealing with allergies" strategy?English
1·4 days agoI have a lot of experience with this. I’m allergic to literally all species of grass somehow 😂
- Avoid triggers. For example, I avoid lawnmowers and freshly mowed lawns. Sometimes that means taking the extra long way around.
- Be wary of dry and windy days.
- Carry an asthma inhaler and spacer if relevant.
- Carry antihistamines ~ they come in nasal spray, eyedropper, and pill form. Choose what’s best for you based on worst symptom.
- Use a covid-style face mask and eye protection like wraparound sunglasses. This seriously helps a lot.
- Don’t “tough it out” ~ if you’re suffering, go inside and take time to look after yourself.
- If it’s severally impacting your life, go see an allergist. They can give you the good shit.

1·4 days agoI recently got much more allergic to soy; which sucks because soy is in like every processed food for some reason. Bread, dark chocolate, and cereal really don’t need soy. That’s even before the “may contain…” labels because an ingredient shared an assembly line at some point. It sucks lol

0·5 days agoAbsolutely not, which is why I was wondering if anyone had a way to make it work without enabling abuse. I can’t think of any, but it would be cool if it was possible. Even something like getting 1 delete per day limit might be helpful

1·5 days agoIs it still an opinion if it’s just a personal attack? In my opinion (lol), an opinion contains some sort of belief or subjective knowledge. I suppose you could argue that their opinion was I am an idiot, but that seems like kind of a stretch

1·5 days agoSounds like federation at it’s ultimate final form. I always imagined someday everybody having their own personal servers and posting locally, rather than joining extant instances*.
I have no idea how moderation tools work on Lemmy though… does it reach out and delete comments from other instances?

31·5 days agoSure, you can block the aggressor; but their comment is still there for everyone else, like a giant turd you kicked under the living room carpet. It attracts other pests, and it still affects anyone else who comes by.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why do so many people comment and then delete their message?English
1·5 days agoIn addition to other comments, I’ve encountered a few weirdoes on here that repeatedly ask the same question and then delete it afterwards. No one is quite sure why they do this but they’re easy to block
One time my update bricked so hard. I just got a black screen then instant reboot loop. Took days to figure out but I eventually had to disassemble my PC and remove the graphics card. I later learnt a warning was accidentally elevated to a boot error which caused the bug; but I had to simply go without graphics card until they fixed it a few weeks later.

1·7 days agoI don’t like matcha or any traditional tea. Tannins in general taste horrible to me, I think I’m sensitive to them or something. It tastes like dryness and astringent, like I’ve put a cotton bud in my mouth

21·7 days agoCold milk with oats, vanilla, and monk fruit sweetener
Frozen strawberries (reheated in the microwave), Greek yoghurt, and banana
Wholemeal spaghetti with broccoli and feta cheese
Hummus and carrot. I don’t bother julienning or peeling and just raw dog it
French toast with garlic powder and cheddar used to be my favourite but I’m having trouble finding bread I can safely eat anymore

2·7 days agoI have severe pots too. Might sound obvious, but try aiming for medium intensity like fast walking and compound exercises like beginner-intermediate calisthenics such as inverted rows.
If even that is too difficult there’s stuff like recumbent bicycles but those are expensive.
