Linux@programming.dev•Supac - a declarative package manager for Linux, scriptable in nushell
3·8 days agoNow this looks interesting. I personally use chezmoi and scripts to install and manage the apps that I want. Having a dedicated manager would be ideal.
Edit: it says that disabling backends is currently not supported, does that mean that it doesn’t worn in environments without pacman for example?

Linux@programming.dev•cpx Introduced as a Faster, Modern Replacement for Linux cp
3·12 days agoI want people to use the software I write, and people don’t want dependencies in their projects that are gpl because you either need to change your project to gpl or go through a very tedious process of providing object files for the entire project. That’s why I use mit for libraries.
However, I don’t want to allow companies to just take my finished binaries and resell them as their services, so I use GPL for binaries and apps. They are free to reimplement the app using the libraries, but I at least want them to work for it a little.
Also, I have found it easier to get contributions to projects that are licensed under mit than gpl, though this might just be insufficient sample size.

3·13 days agoI like and use rust, and I actively try to use permissive licenses for libraries and copy left for binaries. Just makes sense in my head.
Um can I get rhe link instead?

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Podman Quadlets Arr-Stack Setup And NetworkingEnglish
1·22 days agoI don’t know much about ip routing, but userns=keep-id id determined based on what podman is run as. For example, I run podman as user 1000 on the host, so if I do keep-id the user in the container will map to the same id. This often messes with things as the container require it is root inside it’s own context. It seems you are running podman as root, meaning that keep-id will map the container user to the actual root id, givintthe container essentially root access. Normally the container user is mapped to a random id on the host, like 653477, not 0. It’s unsafe to map the containers id to root as they would be unbounded if they managed to escape. I would recommend doing
systemctl caton the different services to see what the .container file expands to.When it comes to the networking I think that you need to create a podman network with internal set to true. I believe that this restricts internet access. Then you would need to only let these services communicate with gluetun.
I don’t know if this was any help, but it’s all I’ve managed to learn from doing it myself.
Here are some liks I found:
