I’d drop a therapist so fast if they were doing this.
Their main job is to listen. I’ve never had one who even took notes during our sessions.

Was AI not outlawed in the expanse?
I haven’t watched/read it in a while but that was my understanding. Maybe I’m thinking of a different series
Edit: Nevermind I looked it up and am wrong

Pretty sure outside of scifi circles it’s niche. I can think of maybe two people I know that may possibly have heard of it.
At least in the US. It must have been more popular across the ocean

The audiobooks gave a real sense of loneliness and not fitting in/trying to find a place.
I loved them but probably will never revisit them.
Was reading the text like that too? I ask because I rarely read actual novels anymore and wonder how much the narration colored it for me.

I absolutely adored sliders when it was on tv. Glad that you enjoyed it after learning about it somewhat recently.
The nineties reboot of outer limits was also something I very much enjoyed. I bet some episodes hold up. Not a show like sliders but had some decent 90s scifi in it if I remember right.
I had a pretty bad reddit habit. Sometimes would do the thing of quitting the app and opening it back up quickly after.
I was using boost and it worked for a long time after it was supposed to stop working. The day it actually stopped working I went over to Lemmy.
Reddit is pretty bad with the propaganda, bots, censorship and what not. It was definitely getting worse before I left and isn’t any better.
I have the official reddit app installed because sometimes reddit will have something I need and using the web browser on my phone is somehow worse than their shitty app.
I wish there was more engagement on Lemmy. I understand all the reasons it’s difficult to grow though and honestly there’s a lot of quality conversations going on
Same here. Though usually it’s not by choice.
I definitely get more tired than I used to

That makes sense.
I was imagining individual people listening to his words. Having church leaders disseminate it makes it more powerful.
I haven’t gone to church in years and I freely admit I didn’t think my question all the way through before I asked it. Of course people will listen to what their clergy say. It’s kind of the point.

I’m not Catholic and live in the US
How much power does the Catholic Church and Pope really have anymore? I can’t remember the last time anyone has mentioned the Pope in my day to day life. Not that I’m around people that would talk about it much to begin with.

I wrote a big long post but it boils down I agree with you and you wrote it better.
I beat alcohol after years of trying and more than one rehab. Quitting nicotine right now seems more daunting than the drug that ruined most of my life. It’s that addictive and vaping personally feels better for me than smoking a cigarette.

Article says the teacher is using handwriting for in class assignments. I suppose you could hide your phone and copy answers from that but at that point your back to regular cheating.
I always hated handwriting in school because my hand also cramps easily. I’ve heard the proper way to write is using arm motions. Makes sense to me because my writing is all using my wrist with my hand crab clawed around a pencil.

Did anyone else get in school suspension? That seems incredibly harsh.
I got a detention in elementary school because my mom made me late too many times. I wasn’t even old enough to walk to school yet so it had to be 1st or 2nd grade. I was very confused and sad that day.
I don’t remember what my mom said or even if I mentioned it to her. I wish I knew my teachers reasoning even if it was bullshit.
I’ve got a coworker now and have had multiple others where this job was their first job in life. They just sold drugs before and, for some, after.
All of them didn’t want to sell drugs but it was easy money for their skill set and it paid for their use. From what they said it was a pretty annoying job.
