BBC really buried the lede on why the protests are happening (I actually missed it on my first read) focusing on the facts of what’s happened with the protests and enumerating people calling for them to stop/tone down.
Fox News (not linking for hopefully obvious reasons) started off by labeling the current Albanian government as Socialist, then went into the educational reforms that students are calling for before admitting that the protests started due to allegations of corruption associated with the Jared Kushner projects/deals.
AP seems to have the best bead, which mentions the student protests, but focuses on the “Flamingo Protests”.
I am eagerly watching to see what comes of this.

Spolier: the hole is not deep at all. Ol’ boy took ArchLinux, pre-configured a bunch of things to be ready to roll out the box in a nice (?) looking format.
Guy behind it (DHH) did some car racing and runs a tech company as well as having made some neat (if not exactly widely well regarded - Ruby on Rails) tools.
All the above is pretty low severity on the reasons to not like the guy, imo. Real reason for the hate appears to be that he was actively supportive of a far-right British politician an anti-islam activist (with his own host of problematic issues) and helped with the anti-immigrant protests in 2025.
I’m not familiar the with politician he supported (Tommy Robinson) nor with that batch of protests, so maybe my nonchalance is understating the issue. To me the headline should read “Elon Musk wannabe tried to say he’s like Elon Musk. Internet left in turmoil”.

Like other commenter said, its more a general vibe.
Its the blocky graphic on either side with smaller text labeled modern squared off graphics in the middle. Its the font. Its the spacing. Its got the same general flow of the dozens of AI generated websites I’ve seen.

Total grab bag of random things that immediately come to mind. There’s probably more, but first set that come to mind:
Some apps won’t boot at all (mostly the grocery store apps I was using at time of swap + Costco - though I’ve found the Costco browser experience is actually better than in app).
Some features of apps just don’t load or error out (Thinking insurance and banking apps, especially when trying to sign docs - I expect its them doing a flavor of play store verification that I have blocked at the app level).
I know its possible to set up Android Auto, but I’ve run into some difficulties with it and ultimately determined it wasn’t worth the privacy sacrifices. But the inconvenience of not having Android Auto be plug and play is something a buddy commented on.
There’s not an Assistant search bar in the app tray. This “feature” of stock android is baffling to me. A different buddy commented on it (when I passed them my phone to DJ while I drove) since they usually open the app tray and type the app they want to use (vs finding it in the list).
Haven’t read article yet, but my experience jumping to Graphene: it was surprisingly easy, but I’m a tech nerd who already understands a lot / has reps and sets on digging through documents to learn. Its definitely not one-for-one swap with Android and there are some minor inconveniences I put up with that some in my family would never tolerate.
Overall: doable and worth it. Expect at least a small learning curve as you do it.
If we’re already in a world war, it should really be called world war 4 or 5. This has the global reach comparable to Vietnam or the Russia/Afghanistan conflict.
